It works by cameras and air nozzles. If the human eye can detect a difference in material, for any reason, the Chromasort can be trained to do the same.
It can separate almost anything that is optically distinct but a short list is: copper, aluminum, electronic scrap, green boards, tinned copper, stainless steel, insulated copper wire (ICW), colored plastic, auto shredder residue (ASR), auto shredder residue wire (ASRW), brass, and more.
The Chromasort can effectively handle materials ranging from 1mm to 60mm in size.
The throughput is about 1 to 2 tons/hour but is affected by the percentage of contaminants and feedstock size. For example, the higher the contaminants and/or the smaller the feedstock, the less throughput.
We can send the machine already programmed to your material(s) if you send us samples prior to shipment. We also can program it on-site. Or we can train you remotely, if you choose.
The Chromasort needs 480V, 3-phase, and 85 CFM of air to run.
Maintenance includes a weekly valve check which is done by the machine, monthly air filter replacements, and general housekeeping by making sure the optical sorter is clean.
Support is done through remoting into the machine or an on-site technician.
